How to Pack Your Camera Bag

Once you have chosen your camera, choose a camera travel case that will hold your camera and gear safely. Pack your lenses separately from your camera, and choose a wide range of lenses to give you a range of shooting abilities. If you are shooting film, pack multiple speeds. You never know what will need. Also, make sure you can get to your camera and favorite lens easily. You do not want to miss a great shot because you can't get to your camera! If you are traveling on a plane, consider putting your film in a clear plastic bag for inspection, so it does not have to go through the X-Ray machine.

Tips for Traveling with Your Camera

Before leaving on your trip, practice with your camera. Make sure you know how to use all of the equipment and features of the camera. Practice changing the film and lenses. Consider keeping film that has been exposed separate from your camera, that way you do not accidentally re-load already exposed film. Also, tuck the end of the film tab into the film canister when you are done using a roll of film, so you do not shoot it again.

Do not pack your camera in your checked luggage, if you can avoid it. Keep it with you. This will ensure that it is handled with the care it needs. You do not want your camera broken while in your suitcase.

Should you Test Your Travel Camera?

Absolutely! Test your travel camera by shooting a variety of pictures in different conditions. Play with the settings, and record what you have done for each picture. Have them developed. This will tell you what features are beneficial for which situations. This is crucial to getting great travel shots.

Once you have your travel camera, whether you have chosen from virtual tour cameras or something simpler, make sure you test it, then you are ready to go. Pack your camera travel case carefully, and keep it with you at all times, if possible. This will make your trip one you are sure never to forget!
